Congratulations to one of PADI's newest course directors! Monty Fitzpatrick, long-time Scuba Shack staff member and instructor was selected to participate in PADI's Course Director Training Course in May, and he has returned to Connecticut with certificate in-hand.
The course director level is considered the pinnacle of the PADI system of diver education. Course directors lead PADI divemasters and assistant instructors through the Instructor Development Course (IDC) to prepare them for the two day PADI Instructor Examination. More than 200 applications are submitted each year for the program and only 70 candidates are selected to attend the two week program.
With Monty's leadership, Scuba Shack - central Connecticut's only PADI Five Star Instructor Development Center - will be able to host PADI Instructor Development Courses here in Rocky Hill more frequently with a more flexible schedule.
The first IDC is now in the planning stages and will be held in conjunction with a PADI Instructor Examination in New England or at Dutch Springs.
When you see Monty next, be sure to congratulate him and ask to see his new black card. |
